Gameplay Changes and System Tweaks

Blizzard Entertainment has announced Patch 2.2.2, aimed at refining Diablo IV&aposs gameplay mechanics and overall stability. One of the most notable changes involves Masterworking, the upgrade system for gear. The resource requirements for ranks 1–4 have been significantly reduced, easing the strain on players—except for Obducite and Gold, which remain unchanged. Developers stated their intention to ensure crafting isn&apost bottlenecked by resource constraints, particularly for frequent Masterwork resets.

Additionally, Blizzard has temporarily disabled DirectStorage, a feature designed to improve loading times on NVMe drives, while they investigate potential performance-related issues. Players who prefer to keep DirectStorage enabled can manually do so via the Battle.net launcher.

Bug Fixes Targeting Accessibility and UI

  • Improvements to the Screen Reader, fixing issues with incorrectly reading cosmetic details and season objectives.
  • Elimination of UI freezes when selecting the &quotCreate Character&quot button.
  • Fixes for map-related inconsistencies, including misplaced icons and outdated progression tracking.

Season and Boss Fixes

The ongoing Season of Belial’s Return has received multiple bug fixes. Quest blockages in Buried Hope—caused by exiting a dungeon mid-objective—have been resolved. Additionally, stronghold shrine interactions and boss mechanics like Duz-Agur’s explosive ore effect have been corrected.

Further boss-related fixes ensure Grigoire’s Hoard Chest is only accessible to players who participated in the battle. Additionally, rare monster Captain Willcocks in Hawezar will no longer become invincible if attacked too rapidly.
